This weekend the Church celebrates the Feast of the Apostles St. Peter and St. Paul. We celebrate the lives of two men who bore witness to Jesus Christ in very special ways. We celebrate the Feast of St. Peter who was the first pope. It was Peter who first declared at Caesaria Phillipi that Jesus was “the Christ, the Son of the Living God”. It was Peter who led the early Church and was martyred because of his love and witness to Jesus Christ.
We also celebrate the Feast of St. Paul who was the greatest missionary that the Church has ever known. After Paul encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus, his life was changed forever. Paul was on fire with love of our Lord Jesus and went to all of the known world to announce the Good News. Paul’s love for our Lord Jesus caused him to be martyred.
It is the witness of these two saints that the Church celebrates this weekend. As we celebrate these two saints, let us ask the Lord to strengthen our witness to Him. Let us ask the Lord to help us to bear witness to Him in our daily lives.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
