In this weekend’s Gospel, we see the Lord Jesus sharing the gift of His peace with His disciples. In the midst of our divided world, we badly need the Lord’s gift of peace. Too many times we get caught up in the divisive atmosphere that surrounds us. We think that holding grudges, revenge and the gotcha politics of our world brings happiness. Our Lord Jesus shows us that true happiness and joy comes only from trusting in Him. Let us all strive to put aside the divisiveness that the world offers us and strive to be ambassadors of the Lord’s gift of peace to a broken and hurting world.
This Monday is Memorial Day and the unofficial start of summer. As we take some time to kick off the summer season with barbecues, trips to local lakes and parks, let us also recall the true meaning of this National Holiday. Let us thank God for the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country so that we can all be free.
This Thursday is the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord and a Holy Day of Obligation. We will have a Vigil
