This weekend we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. This is a difficult feast for us as Americans because we don’t like kings that much. We even fought a war to free ourselves from the rule of a king. We celebrate this weekend that Jesus is the King of the world and of the universe. On this final Sunday of the Church year, we recall that Jesus is the King and that we owe Him our allegiance, obedience and honor. In the midst of a world and society that celebrates individual freedom and individuality, we celebrate that our God is our ruler. We put our trust in His will and not in our own desires and wants. On this Feast of Christ the King, may we truly honor Jesus Christ as our Lord and King. May we make Him the King and ruler of our lives. May we allow Him to work through us to establish His Kingdom on this earth.

This Thursday is the National Holiday of Thanksgiving in our nation. It is a day when we pause to Thank God for all the many gifts that He has given to us. We thank Him for the entirety of our lives. As we celebrate this day with a great feast with our family and friends, let us not forget to thank our God for His many blessings and the best way for us to do that is to celebrate Eucharist, a word which means Thanksgiving. We will have Mass on Thanksgiving day at 9:00. Please make every effort to attend Mass that day and to offer thanks to God for the many gifts that He has blessed us with!

Have a great week!
