The Readings from Sacred Scripture this week challenge us to examine how we spend our time. What do we do with the time that God gives us? What is the center and most important thing in my life? The Readings point out to us the folly of chasing after material things in life.

How many of us spend hours each day doing something that we do not enjoy that provides us with the resources that we need to simply get by! How do we spend our leisure and free time in our lives? Do we make room for God and prayer in our daily routines? How much of my resources do I spend in building up the Kingdom of God on this earth? Each of us is reminded that we will have to give God a reckoning of how we spent our lives. We will have to answer for the choices we make and the decisions we make in our lives. Let us ask the Lord for the grace to examine our lives in the light of His presence and great love for us!

Next weekend is our Parish Picnic. I am looking forward to spending some time with the people from both parish communities as we enjoy a mid-summer picnic together. Our day will begin with Mass at 11:00. Note, there will be NO 10:15 Mass next Sunday at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Parish. After Mass we will have our Chicken Barbecue and festivities. Please purchase your tickets this weekend for this wonderful event. An Ice Cream Truck will also be present as well as children’s games, basket raffles, hotdogs, adult beverages, live music and plenty of fun and fellowship. It promises to be a great day. Make your plans now to attend!

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
