This weekend we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord Jesus and the end of the Christmas season. We recall how our Lord Jesus was baptized by His cousin John the Baptist. It was here that Jesus was revealed as the “Father’s Son in whom He is well pleased”. The baptism of Jesus unites Him with each of us as we share a common baptism. As Jesus’ identity was revealed at His baptism, so we receive a new identity at baptism as adopted sons and daughters of God. Through our baptism, we enter into a new relationship with God and we receive the possibility of everlasting life with God in heaven after we die. May we take some time to reflect upon our personal baptisms this week and give thanks to God for this great gift.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
