One of our annual events has been Mass on the River during the month of August. Each year Spicey Mike and company served good food and parishioners could bring items to pass for snacks or desserts. Parishioners took charge of the sound system, mass needs, organist and music. Most years a train would go by on the other side of the river which caught our attention. Our numbers have been down and for some in our parish, bringing chairs, having to drive a distance makes a difference. Last July Fr. Jim at St. Vincent de Paul/Blessed Sacrament became our pastor. Working with him our staff realizes the importance for both parishes to share events with one another when possible. We want to be together in preaching and living the Lord’s Gospel. St. Vincent de Paul/Blessed Sacrament has an annual parish picnic on their grounds. They have good food, we are told and other events on the grounds. This year we hope to join together for a relaxing parish day and getting to know one another. Please save the date, August 10th at St. Vincent Grounds starting at noon. All are invited! Menu includes BBQ chicken, brats, hot dogs, and plenty of sides and desserts. Tickets are $5.00/ person and $20.00/ household family. Children under 5 are free. More information to come!
