In this weekend’s Readings from Sacred Scripture, we are told about Elijah and how God provided food for him for his journey. He is told to eat, or the journey may be too much for him. He then ate the bread and then journeyed toward Mt. Horeb. The Gospel continues from John 6 and the discourse on the Eucharist. We are called to reflect upon the Eucharist as food for our journey toward heaven. God provides the best of all food for us as we journey through life. He gives us the gift of Himself and this sustains us as we journey through life. May we take some time this week and thank God for this great gift. This Thursday is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary and a Holy Day of Obligation. St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament will have a Vigil Mass  on Wednesday evening at 5:30 pm and Mass on the Holy Day at 9:00 am.  Masses here at Saints John and Andrew on the Holy Day will be at 6:30 am and 5:15 pm. Let’s all come together and honor Mary our Mother. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!! Father Jim
